Killer NurseKiller Nurse by John Foxjohn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This true crime story from award-winning author John Foxjohn details the unraveling of a murderous nurse’s behavior from the first indications of problems to her conviction in Texas. From beginning to end, this tale horrifies the reader for many reasons, but the fact that kidney-dialysis patients trusted this woman makes her story positively blood-chilling.

The story unfolds in the small town of Lufkin, Texas where dialysis patients bond with one another during their transfusions. Little by little they notice odd things about the new nurse that don’t register as serious dangers until patients die at higher than normal rates for patients in dialysis treatment. The investigators seem out of their element as they have to learn about dialysis procedures and policies before they can determine if a crime has been committed.
