Why do authors give away books? To help readers find them. To get reviews, yes, even a negative review, because new authors don’t have the name recognition of the giants in the genre.

So check out the list and maybe you’ll find your next new favorite author. One last beach read for the summer, one last thrill…

My book South of Justice is part of this giveaway because, like my other books, it features a strong heroine. I write about strong women on purpose. To learn why I feature strong women, check out my blog on it:

Eleven best-sellling authors have teamed up to celebrate summer with giveaways of books! Why would authors giveaway books?

I’m glad you asked. The answer is three-fold.

One

Authors want readers to discover their work and giveaways encourage readers to read books by authors they might not have heard of yet. The theory is similar to what drug dealers use–the first one’s free. Once a reader is hooked by the fresh voice, memorable characters, and stunning storytelling, the reader will buy other works by that author. Remember the last time you found a book you loved so much you bought everything you could find by that author?

Reading addiction is real.

Two

Authors giveaway books to get reviews. Sure, authors can pay for reviews, but genuine, heart-felt reviews are the best advertising. It’s also called word-of-mouth advertising. Your friends and family know how much you love reading, so they look to you when they want to know what’s worth reading.

Your review on Amazon, Goodreads, BookBub, or other sites help more readers discover new voices in fiction. Goodreads is like Facebook, but for book lovers.

Your social media post naming an author and title of a book helps your friends and family discover new voices in fiction. Posting the cover image is always a plus!

Three

Authors giveaway books is to build their newsletter outreach. If you like the book, you will be notified when the next book by this author comes out. Some authors ask readers to help with choosing cover art or naming characters. You can unsubscribe to a newsletter at any time. Newsletters are also used to announce other giveaways and ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) which are given to reviewer/bloggers and select fans.

So, if you’ve been searching for mysteries, suspense, and thrillers without vulgar language or erotica–download one or all of the books offered by these Christian authors.

West of Famous a Semi-Finalist

Amid the morass of junk mail offering to enhance body parts I don’t have, refinance my home, and help a Nigerian Prince move vast sums of cash out of Africa, a sweet message arrived from the good folks who run the Chanticleer International Book Awards (CIBAs).

They wrote:

Congratulations, your work has progressed from the Slushpile to the Long List onward to the Short List and is now an official SEMI-FINALIST for the CLUE Book Awards for Thriller and Suspense, a division of the Chanticleer International Book Awards (CIBAs). Well done, your hard work has been rewarded!

We encourage you to visit the official 2019 CLUE Semi-Finalist list that is posted on the Chanticleer Reviews website and to share the listing on your social media platforms and on your website.

Of the Semi-Finalists listed on the official web post listing, only FIVE will advance to the 2019 First Place Positions and only ONE of these will advance to the 2019 CLUE Grand Prize position. There are some great reads in this listing!

Good luck to all!

The Semi-Finalists are now in the final rounds of judging for the First Place Category Positions. All Semi-Finalists in attendance will be recognized at the Chanticleer Authors Conference, Book Room, and CIBA Ceremony & Banquet on April 17, 18, & 19, 2020.

The CIBA First Place Category Position award winners and the CLUE Grand Prize winner will be announced at the awards banquet and ceremony.

So, yes, the hope of winning will spark joy in my heart from time to time between now and whenever they announce the finalists. All prayers on my book’s behalf are greatly appreciated.

And congratulations to all the other semi-finalists! To see the list, click HERE.
