It is an honor to be invited to teach at a conference of one's peers. I am thrilled to teach a workshop at this year's American Christian Fiction Writer's Conference in Memphis, Tennessee this August. As a career journalist, I've learned how to research a topic and interview subject matter experts, so I'll be teaching a workshop titled "How to Research Like a Pro."
The conference has two parts: one for writers and one for readers. The reader's portion is called Storyfest and this is where authors and readers connect with games, book signings, panel discussions, and workshops specifically for readers, such as how to score advance reader copies and write reviews that matter. Everyone shares the Annual Awards presentation of contest winners.
At a previous conference in New Orleans, I served on a panel discussion with one of my favorite authors--Creston Mapes. It was a *FAN SQUEAL* moment for me. I highly recommend his thrillers. I was stunned that he had read my reviews. He asked why I hadn't reviewed I Am In Here.
I explained I couldn't read about a teen becoming disabled in an accident because my daughter had been in a terrible accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Mr. Mapes said he understood and thanked me for the other reviews. He has a new stand alone thriller that came out in May: Sapphire Island

I am also overjoyed that New York Times Bestselling Author Carol J. Post will be at the conference. Her books are heartfelt, fast-paced, and true romantic suspense. Carol has been enormously encouraging to me through my writing journey. She has over 25 books published. She is teaching a workshop on "How to Make Your Fiction Sparkle." I highly recommend it.
So many amazing authors and devoted readers! This conference feels like a reunion with friends who just happen to be bestselling authors, top agents, and happy readers. If you go, let's grab a book and a coffee and catch up!
